Mission

Mission

The Merrill Family Giving Circle was created to better understand ourselves, our history, and our community. We will respond to urgent needs in our community by supporting 501(c)3 organizations in the Pacific Northwest that are BIPOC-led, particularly those that advance housing justice, environmental justice, and indigenous sovereignty.

Purpose

Our giving circle acknowledges the historic role of our family in perpetuating systemic racism and inequities in our region. As such, we are committed to trust-based grantmaking strategies that are inclusive, restorative, and centers those who have been historically marginalized.

Core Beliefs

  • Regenerative/Restorative Philanthropy- We give without restrictions in a trust-based way

  • Accountability and Personal Growth- We welcome feedback to help us model communal/social justice behaviors for our family

  • Continuous Education- for ourselves and family. We seek deep understanding of the issues and communities that have been historically marginalized or left out

Authentic Connection-among ourselves, our family, and communities that may have been harmed by our ancestors.
